Tony Vanchieri joins Buchanan & Edwards as director of business development
Former Booz Allen executive specializing in DHS, DOJ to support company’s growth in national security sector
Buchanan & Edwards Inc., an award-winning and fast-growing technology leader creating transformative solutions for government customers, announced today that Tony Vanchieri has joined the company as its new director of business development. Vanchieri, who has more than three decades of experience in government, will be responsible for growing Buchanan & Edwards’ contract opportunities with departments of homeland security and justice to support the organization’s strategic plan to grow within the national security sector.

Vanchieri joins BE with over 35 years of service to his country in roles within both the government and private sector. Most recently, he was a senior associate at Booz Allen Hamilton supporting the Homeland Security, Justice and Transportation business group. Previously, Vanchieri also held business development positions with some of the largest corporations in government contracting, including Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics and QinetiQ North America. Prior to 9/11, Vanchieri had served as executive director for the National Center of Excellence in Aviation Operations Research and Senior Manager of the Weapons and Explosives Detection Program at the Federal Aviation Administration. In September 2001, Vanchieri was tapped to be staff chief of maritime and land security at the newly former Department of Homeland Security supporting both DHS and the Transportation Security Administration.
In 1990, Vanchieri retired from a 24-year career in the Marine Corps. As a Marine, he rose through the ranks from a Private First Class enlisted infantryman to a commissioned officer and carrier-qualified naval aviator, flying the CH 53 “Sea Stallion” troop and cargo transport helicopter with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 462 (HMH-462). As a naval aviator, Vanchieri toured the world with both shore and afloat assignments. Vanchieri’s last duty station was Quantico, Virginia, where he served as the acting Operations Officer of the Marine Corps Air Facility, home of the President’s Helicopter Squadron, HMX-1.
Vanchieri is a graduate of the University of Tampa, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. He also has a Master’s of Science in Operations Research and Management Science from the University of Southern California. Vanchieri is continuing coursework for a Doctor of Philosophy in Stochastic Simulation from George Mason University.
