WASHINGTON, Dec. 9, 2018 – Jon Tupitza, CTO solution architect and predictive analytics practice manager at Buchanan & Edwards Inc., an award-winning and fast-growing technology leader creating transformative solutions for government customers, was a guest speaker at the Azure DataFest event on Dec. 7 as well as the PASS SQLSaturday 814 event on Dec. 8. Tupitza discussed and covered a wide range of topics including big data, advanced analytics solutions, machine learning and more.

The Philadelphia Azure DataFest: Advanced Analytics and Big Data Conference was held on Friday, Dec. 7, in Malvern, Pennsylvania. This one-day event explored a wide range of topics from analytics and big data, while also hearing speakers from Microsoft and the larger technical community. The PASS SQLSaturday 814 session was held on Saturday, Dec. 8, in Chevy Chase, Maryland. SQLSaturday was a free training event for Microsoft Data Platform professionals and those wanting to learn about SQL Server, Business Intelligence and Analytics. Tupitza’s session topic, “Using SQL Server 2017 Machine Learning Services to Implement Common Machine Learning Tasks,” explored some of the features and benefits of SQL Server 2017 Machine Learning Server by way of demonstrations that detailed the step-by-step process for training and evaluating machine learning models using Python and R, and for then deploying and consuming those models using SQL Server stored procedures. Tupitza has been providing data platform, business intelligence and data science solutions to public sector customers for over 20 years. Prior to joining Buchanan & Edwards, Tupitza served as a senior business intelligence and SQL server consultant for Microsoft’s U.S. Public-Sector Consulting Services where he supported civilian, DoD and intelligence community agencies. He also served as a managing consultant at SolidQ and as a principal solution developer at Avanade. Tupitza has been recognized with industry certifications in data science, artificial intelligence, big data, business intelligence, database development and administration, software engineering, and infrastructure engineering.

Tupitza earned a Master of Science in Data Analytics from Western Governors University and master’s-level certificates in data science from Harvard and Columbia.
