WASHINGTON, Oct. 12, 2018 – Jon Tupitza, CTO solution architect and predictive analytics practice manager at Buchanan & Edwards Inc., an award-winning and fast-growing technology leader creating transformative solutions for government customers, recently spoke at the Reston Azure DataFest: Advanced Analytics and Big Data Conference on Thursday Oct. 11 at the Microsoft Reston Campus in Reston, Virginia. Tupitza’s discussion “Using CNTK for Emotional Recognition in Facial Image Analysis” explored the use of Microsoft’s Cognitive Service Toolkit for performing image analysis and detection of human expressions.

“I’m thrilled to have had the opportunity to present at this event to discuss the use of Microsoft’s computer vision solution for facial image analysis,” said Tupitza. “It was great to also hear from other colleagues across the technology and data space. With so much technology being produced and utilized in today’s markets, this conference proved to be invaluable with open dialogue amongst peers and colleagues in the industry around the future of data analysis and the progression of advanced analytics.”

Tupitza’s session featured the work that Buchanan & Edwards did during its summer internship program, along with the Buchanan & Edwards branded web application for Facial Emotional Recognition.

Tupitza has 20 years of experience in providing data platform, business intelligence and data science solutions to public sector customers. He has served as a senior business intelligence and SQL server consultant for Microsoft’s U.S. Public-Sector Consulting Services where he supported civilian, DoD and intelligence community agencies. Prior to this experience, Tupitza served as a managing consultant at SolidQ and as a principal solution developer at Avanade.

He has been recognized with industry certifications in data science, artificial intelligence, big data, business intelligence, database development and administration, software engineering, and infrastructure engineering. Tupitza earned a Master of Science degree in Data Analytics from Western Governors University and master’s-level certificates in data science from Harvard and Columbia.
