Consolidated Database Architecture

BE delivered end-to-end solution development, data engineering and database administration for the DISA Network Services Enterprise Connection Division Consolidated Database Architecture (CDBA). BE’s custom developed systems help to automate the application and approval process of the Enterprise Connection Division Approval Office and enable DISA to regulate secure interoperable connections to the DISN for applications, information systems and networks authorized to operate on the enterprise infrastructure.

Situation

At the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), BE served as the lead for end-to-end custom solution development, data engineering and database administration for the DISA Network Services Enterprise Connection Division Consolidated Database Architecture (CDBA) – the authoritative tool for secure interoperable connections supporting the warfighter and mission partners.

Solution

CDBA team provided Database Design and Description (DBDD), Design Specification Documentation (DSD), Software Design Description (SDD), Software Requirement Specifications (SRS), Software Test Plan (STP), Software Test Report (STR), IAVM compliance reports and configuration management system reports. Working collaboratively with the CDBA team, our Technical Writers also drafted training material for use in Computer-Based Training (CBT) modules for end users. They recommended and converted the user guide documentation into RoboHelp, a COTS product, to provide context-sensitive online help integrated into one of the applications.

Results:
  • Improved data quality, data integration, performance and viability
  • Implementation of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) certified digital signature encryption functionality and upgrades in compliance with Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)
  • Reduced the turn-around time required to update system documentation and improve the end user experience
